Course FAQ
Classroom Course FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
Where do you teach your courses?
We have a network of state-of-the-art, modern, air-conditioned training venues throughout the United Kingdom.   Most of our courses are delivered in one of our 48 London venues but we often deliver courses as far north as Aberdeen and as far South as Southampton.

Click here for a page with an interactive map showing the locations of our UK course venues.

As well as the United Kingdom courses can be delivered either on or off site in any country in the world.  Click here for details of our international courses.

What is your cancellation policy?

Click here for a full copy of our terms & conditions.

As well as the UK, can you offer your courses in the USA and other countries too?
Yes.  We have recently delivered courses for the US Government in Washington DC and for Volvo in Luxembourg.  Obviously, UK and international courses are a little more expensive than UK courses due to transport and accommodation costs.

Do you provide courses at the weekend?
We don't normally run courses at weekends because most of our delegates are sent on training courses by their companies and require training during the week.   If you have a special need for a weekend course it may be possible to arrange this.

How long do courses last for?
Courses usually begin at 09:00 and end at approximately 17:00 but they can be scheduled at any time you require.

What sort of lunch do you provide?
The standard lunch menu usually includes a selection of cold sandwiches, snacks and fruit, as well as soft beverages (regional differences may apply).

We can cater for special dietary requirements (eg Vegetarian or Vegan) if you let us know via Email at least 48 hours before the course start date.

As well as lunch your course fee includes unlimited tea and coffee, biscuits and chilled water. You may also make local and national landline telephone calls at no extra cost during breaks and lunch periods.

How often will there be coffee and/or cigarette breaks?
It is essential to take regular breaks to maximise the learning process. Courses are structured into sessions of 45 mins to 90 mins duration.  After each session we have a short break (10-15 mins) for coffee, phone calls or cigarettes.

Do I need to bring my own computer with me?
No. We provide everything so there's no need to bring your computer.  Even for a private course held at your own premises we'll bring along all equipment (one computer per delegate and a projector).

What sort of documentation will I be able to take away with me?
You'll take home a comprehensive course reference book (two books for our two-day courses) and a laminated quick-reference card to keep by your computer.  The course reference  book is typically 100-220 pages with a full index and table of contents. If you remember that you did something in the course but can't remember how you did it the answer will always be at your fingertips. You'll also be given a web site address where you can download all example files presented during the course.

Who will teach me?
You will be taught by Mike Smart, an Access certified Microsoft Master instructor with years of relevant industry experience.  We do not employ freelance trainers or subcontract training.

How can I pay for my course?
Normally you will pay by credit card or BACS transfer at the time of booking.  If this presents a problem for you let us know and we'll find a solution.

How many other delegates will be on the course?
Your class can be as small or large as you wish, from private tuition to our maximum class size of six.

Will I receive a certificate?
Provided that you complete all exercises satisfactorily you will receive a certificate to record your achievement.  This will either be presented at the end of the course or arrive in the post a few days after the course date.

Which program version will you use to teach me?

For private courses we can teach using the version of your choice (97, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2007 or 2010).  You should choose the version that you use at your place of work.
